Being bold and beautiful are two qualities that I possess as a human being, African - American woman and a consultant. These qualities not only define my personal character but also influence my approach to various challenges and opportunities in both my personal and professional life. My boldness allows me to navigate complex situations with confidence, while my beauty reflects the strength and resilience that I carry within.

Waves of Life created in 202 and a mix media collage on canvas. Based on my overall personal and professional experiences that I have encountered as a black American.  Ocean Waves is an abstract painting created in 2023 and features a captivating swirl of blue and green, evoking the dynamic essence of ocean waves. The fluid composition reflects the swift flow of life, with varying shades that symbolize growth and transformation. Inflation created in 2022 and based on the personal and professional experiences that Ms. Afrika Abney encountered as a black female from America and living in America. Swirls and shades of purple blend into one another, creating an abstract and immersive visual experience. Hints of light blue peek through, adding a contrasting highlight to the darker hues.

Quote found on the Internet  “On November 5, 1994, Washington, D.C. witnessed a momentous occasion that would have lasting implications for the political framework of the United States. This date signified a crucial turning point during a period characterized by substantial transformation and evolution within the nation's governance. The energy in the capital was palpable, mirroring the widespread feelings across the country that were influencing the trajectory of American politics. In 1994, the consulting industry experienced a surge in activity as organizations sought to adapt to the evolving political environment. The changing dynamics in Congress prompted many businesses and non-profits to engage consultants who could offer insights into the implications of potential policy shifts. This demand was particularly pronounced in areas such as telecommunications and environmental policy, where impending reforms required expert guidance. As a result, consulting firms exp...

Quote found on the Internet It was not until former president George W. Bush (1989 - 1993) that I did not become a consultant in 1992.  “The 41st president of the United States, George H.W. Bush had a significant influence on the consulting industry, particularly through his extensive network and experience in both public service and the private sector. Bush's belief in the importance of strategic partnerships and stakeholder engagement encouraged consulting firms to adopt similar methodologies in their practices. As a result, many firms began to prioritize relationship management and strategic advisory roles, aligning their services with the needs of both public and private sector clients. This shift not only expanded the scope of consulting services but also elevated the industry's status as a critical player in shaping policy and business strategies. Furthermore, the legacy of George H.W. Bush's presidency can be seen in the evolution of consulting practices that prior...

Quote found on the Internet The name calling is uncalled for. For those that are unaware, I was 4 - 13 from 1980 - 1989. In order for someone to become aware of something they have to be introduced to the subject at hand.  “Ronald Reagan's presidency had a significant influence on the consulting industry, particularly through his administration's policies that emphasized deregulation and a free-market economy. His approach to governance encouraged businesses to seek external expertise to navigate the complexities of a rapidly changing economic landscape. As a result, consulting firms experienced a surge in demand for their services, as organizations sought to adapt to new market conditions, optimize operations, and implement innovative strategies. This shift not only expanded the scope of consulting but also elevated the status of consultants as essential partners in corporate decision-making.”

I grew up in America and in Ward 7 neighborhood. I grew up examining the colors, textures, and materials available to me searching for answers to the many questions floating within me. I grew up in a household without my siblings and father absence. Thus, I consider myself like an only child and alone in a world filled with racism, discrimination, prejudice, violence and corruption. I express my experiences that I have encountered through my visual artwork. Painting the world, society and community that I have witnessed as a black female in America using dull, vibrant, and dark colors. You ask me time and time again, how was growing up in America for me? I say all the time, it was an experience filled with sorrow, trauma, grief, hope, and absence. Furthermore, I grew up during the time when Washington, DC was chocolate city.  Growing Up in America.Digital art created on canvas.       Imaginative Salvation.Digital art created on canvas. October 21, 2024. Afrika Abney  Yesterday, I found this quote using a quote app. Digital art is created using technology.  I have used my imagination to create this digital abstract painting. As I have mentioned numerous times, I have no idea what you are discussing because I am minding my own business. Sometimes, my ideas wake me up from my restful sleep, but I do wind up going back to sleep. The ideas of inclusiveness, sincerity, and compassion where racism and discrimination no longer exists.

Core Attitude. Digital art created on canvas. October 20, 2024. Afrika Abney  This morning, I found this quote using a quote app and the author was not listed.  My core values that are embedded within my attitude include honesty, trust, loyalty, dedication, devotion, commitment, integrity and transparency. These are just some of my core values. I chose shades of brown not only because of the color of my skin, but because brown has different meanings.

When I was a student, I was introduced to numerous black poets. https://www.estherproductionsinc.com/product-page/kaleidoscope-women-of-color-reflecting-on-life-click-to-order “Today is Black Poetry Day. It is a day to recognize the contributions of black poets to literature and celebrate the black experience as retold in poetry. Black Poetry has often provided an important space for Black resistance. It's also served as an outlet for expressing deep longings, losses, and hopes. Even under the oppression of slavery, poetry gave voice to the African American experience.” Mr. Kenneth Carroll is a native Washingtonian whose poetry and prose has appeared in Icarus, In Search of Color Everywhere, Bum Rush The Page, Potomac Review, Worcester Review, Obsidian, the Washington Post, Words & Images Journal, Indiana Review, American Poetry: The Next Generation, Beyond the Frontier, Gargoyle, Spirit & Flame, and Penguin Academics Anthology of African American Poetry. Afrika Abney  I woke up from my restful sleep on this Tuesday, October 15, 2024 and began to select colors using my digital palette. Morning Muse is embedded in the shades of orange. The source of inspiration for creating Morning Muse is the symbolism behind the shades of orange.

On October 14, 2024, the celebration of Columbus Day will take place, a “holiday that has increasingly been recognized as Indigenous People's Day. This shift in nomenclature reflects a growing awareness and acknowledgment of the historical impact of Christopher Columbus on Indigenous populations in the Americas. The change signifies a broader movement towards honoring the cultures, histories, and contributions of Indigenous peoples, while also recognizing the complexities of colonial history is essential for a comprehensive understanding of its lasting impacts. The multifaceted dynamics of colonialism involve a range of social, economic, and political factors that shaped the relationships between colonizers and the colonized. This complexity is not merely a historical footnote; it continues to influence contemporary societal structures, cultural identities, and geopolitical relations. By delving into the nuances of this history, we can better appreciate the diverse experiences and ...
